Floyd Mayweather Jr Greatest Hits
Floyd Mayweather Jr will meet Juan Manuel Marquez in the ring later this year. For his first comeback fight after an almost 2 year retirement Floyd Mayweather Jr has chosen a tough, but smaller opponent. There has been some criticism of Floyd regarding why he has chosen to fight a man 3 weight divisions under him and forcing him to fight 9 pounds higher than he has ever fought before. Floyd is expected to be stronger and faster, but Marquez has proven he can overcome difficulties in the ring before.

Juan Manuel Marquez on weight negotiations, pound for pound titles and his future
Translation Below:
Interviewer: "What does the opportunity to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. mean to you?"
JJM: "It’s a great fight and a great opportunity to reach new heights. It’s a great opportunity and a great responsibility to know we are going to fight with such a great fighter. This means we will train very hard like always and move up in weight with power. Ever since the fight was announced I am concentrating very hard on Mayweather."
Interviewer: "How would you define Floyd Mayweather Jr.?"
JJM: "He’s a fighter who is coming back from retirement. He will do whatever it takes to win and so will I. It will be a great fight. He wants to prove he still is the best pound for pound fighter and I want to prove I am."
Interviewer: "How do you feel about the conditions of the fight?"
JJM: "I talked with my promoter Golden Boy and I told them I wanted to fight at 140. Then they told me 145 and I said no 142.5. Finally we agreed at 143 close to 144 pounds. I have always done weight training when I fought at super featherweight in order to gain weight and muscle and I have fought at lightweight. I felt good fighting at lightweight. I don’t think weight will be a problem in this fight I will work hard to move up to 143 maybe 144 pounds and will make sure not to lose any speed."
Interviewer: "Do you view this fight as a last chance opportunity?"
JJM: "Well I've always said its better late than never, and at 35 years of age I'm getting so many good opportunities. I got to fight Casamayor who is a great fighter and I got to fight the young Juan Diaz only 25 years old. I think if you prepare yourself well, are disciplined and you take care of yourself you can come out ahead."
Interviewer: "I imagine you’re motivated to win this fight because whoever wins will fight Pacquiao."
JJM: "Yes that motivates me in this fight but right now I am only concentrating on Mayweather. Right now I have a rival that is more difficult, more powerful that Pacquiao."
ESPN Anchor: "Well there are the words of Juan Manuel Marquez, in his last 5 fights he’s been very active and he doesn't have anything to lose and everything to gain. He is the underdog in this fight."
Marco Antonio Barrera: "Yes, but he has a positive mentality and he has a strong will, he has a huge opportunity in front of him and like he said better late than never. He’s taking things one step at a time I hope we get a big surprise come July 18, he is a great fighter."
rprise come July 18, he is a great fighter."

Oscar de la Hoya says Marquez will beat Mayweather
Translation below:
Interviewer: "We are used to seeing you in big fights. Tell us how you made this big fight happen."
Oscar de la Hoya: "We did it by talking with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Juan Manuel Marquez, telling them that this could be a huge fight. As a boxer I believe, I am very sure and know that Juan Manuel Marquez is going to beat Floyd Mayweather Jr.. Juan Manuel Marquez is going to beat Floyd Mayweather Jr. because Floyd Mayweather Jr. hasn't fought in over a year. Juan Manuel Marquez is a fighter who is not scared to throw punches. He is an incredibly intelligent fighter. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a fighter who does not like to throw a lot of punches."
Interviewer: "You and I know Juan Manuel Marquez well and we know that right now he is on fire. Given your experience fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. what advice would you give to Juan Manuel Marquez?"
Oscar de la Hoya: "I would tell him to be calm and not let Floyd's trash talk get to him. Marquez needs to use his jab. His jab is the key. If he does this he will dominate him. I did that in the first 6-7 and so can Marquez."
Interviewer: "Is the winner of this fight the best pound for pound fighter in your eyes?"
Oscar de la Hoya: "Yes, yes because in my eyes and in the eyes of many experts Marquez beat Pacquiao both times. Mayweather used to be number 1 and now that he’s back we will see if he still is."

Interviewer: "We are here in New York with Juan Manuel Marquez. First lets talk about your flight here you had with Oscar. How do you feel?"
Juan Manuel Marquez: "It was a great experience; I talked with Oscar de la Hoya as well as people from Golden boy Productions and HBO. I feel a bit tired with all we went through yesterday in Los Angeles but I’m happy."
Interviewer: "Now that you are in New York what do you think about the Big Apple?"
JJM: "I've seen a lot of people from all counties, I’ve seen a lot of Mexicans, a lot of Latinos and I'm happy here in New York there are a lot of Mexican people."
Interviewer: "What are the places here in New York you would like to visit if you have the time?"
JJM: "Well I would like to see ground zero, I would like to visit 5th avenue and do some shopping, also I would like to see Saint Patrick’s church. The last time I came here I only saw it from outside I would like to explore it."
Interviewer: "Frank Sinatra said if you can make it in New York you can make it anywhere, what do you feel when you see so many supporting you here in New York where you don’t come often?"
JJM: "For me it’s a source of great satisfaction, and just like Frank Sinatra said I made it here, the people here are supporting me and this for me is out of the ordinary. I didn't think so many people would be interested in this fight."
Interviewer: "How much did the time change affect you?"
JJM: "It affected me a lot, yesterday I came here finding myself falling asleep standing up, falling asleep with my eyes open but that was because I've been very busy the last couple of days and to wake up I took a short jog."
Interviewer: "One last thing, when you were at the top of the empire state building you had a chance to see the city from a new angle. What did you about it?"
JJM: "It's a very beautiful city, the buildings, how the streets are designed, the Hudson River. It’s all very beautiful and seeing it from such a high places makes it more so."
Interviewer: "If you were to take a jog where would you like to run?"
JJM: "We are going to see if I can take a run in Central Park. The first time I came here I ran there. Right now we are very busy but I would love to do it."
Juan Manuel Marquez on Floyds trash talk, weight and more
Translation Below:
Juan Manuel Marquez on Floyds trash talk, weight and more
Anchor: “Floyd Mayweather Jr is a trash talker who enjoys badmouthing his opponents. But so far Floyd Mayweather hasn’t said much about you. What do you think of this new different, quiet, Floyd?”
Marquez: “Well I think everyone is waiting for Floyd to open his mouth and start talking smack, it surprises me that his hasn’t up to this point said anything negative about me, I think he is hiding something under his sleeve, I think right now he is thinking I am thinking Floyd is relaxed and will come to the fight a relaxed and composed fighter. We don’t think he is calm, we will work hard to prepare for this fight and we expect FM to do the same.”
Anchor: “How do you feel physically fighting at a weight you have never fought at before? The highest weight you’ve fought at is 135 pounds, this fight will be at 143 pounds.”
Marquez: “We are working hard in the gym at high altitude in the mountains in Mexico. I want to move up in weight with power, I don’t think the weight will be a problem, I have gone up from feather weight to super feather weight to lightweight. I am working on building up muscle to move up with power to 143 pounds. I am also working on my speed so I can move up with speed and not let the weight gain slow me down.”
